Dr Alok Kumar Bhuwan, an expert in rehabilitation science and special education, is the founder of Manovikas Charitable Society, a Non-Governmental Organization established in 1997 under the guidance of Dr Uma Tuli from Amarjayoti Charitable Trust, with the assistance of his wife, Mrs Indira.  Dr Alok Bhuwan has dedicated himself to the Manovikas Family, providing inclusive education opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in India. The national focus on economic freedom for those with disabilities has grown. Policies like the National Skill Qualification Framework, the Right of Persons with Disability Act 2016 and UNCRPD’s Convention possess great potential. Raising consciousness and inspiring role models in incorporating persons with disabilities into primary education at conventional schools, skill development programmes and ‘Think College’ for inclusive higher education as well as developing quality-of-life care programmes serve to fully equip those receiving minimal aid to achieve autonomy, incorporation and high quality of life. Alok’s efforts have helped India increase its contribution towards fulfilling the need for inclusive higher education that society requires to bring about changes in public opinion. Equity, neutrality and human rights are given their due place of prominence.
